Sweet Escape to Pangkalan Kerinci: Tanoto Scholars Gathering 2015, We Learn and Lead!!

Holaa everybodehh!! Long time no see yaa, hehe.. Pardon me for every mistakes that i've ever done yaa (few ~~days~~ weeks past since lebaran but i think it still relevant to ask for pardon in anytime:D). Oke now i wanna share you about my beautiful escape to Pangkalan Kerinci few days ago. Hahaha.. Let's check this out

First, i would like to say that i'm very grateful to become one of 200 students around Indonesia (in my batch: 2013) who received scholarship from Tanoto Foundation. (For more information about Tanoto Foundation please visit http://www.tanotofoundation.org/id/). This year, Tanoto Foundation invited all scholars around Indonesia to had a gathering in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau. Actualy, This time was the second opportunity for me (and also the last opportunity) to attend this gathering but last year i couldn't join this gathering because of my project in ALSTOM (see my post about it in this). At first, i doubt to go but i think this activity and meet up with my scholar friends around Indonesia will be amazing moment and i prove it:)

Tanoto Scholars Gathering (TSG) 2015 is the official name for this activity. Attended by 266 scholars from 23 university partner of Tanoto Foundation such as ITB, UI, UGM, IPB, USU, UNHAS, UNMUL, UNRI, UNJA, etc. TSG 2015 held in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau at 12-16 August 2015.

Day of arrival. And also the opening. TSG was opened by kak Anderson Tanoto (son of Mr. Sukanto Tanoto) by lighting the bonfire. Oiya, at this moment i met with my kece badai #13 superteam for the first time. Let me introduce my proud kece badai team:

This day was full by industrial visit for all day long. Made me tired but i really amazed with this company (RGE business corp). Some places we had visit such as paper mill, KCN (Kerinci Central Nursery), RGE exhibition center, and oil palm plantations was managed by modern technology and support sustainability. Not only labor from outside (foreign), RGE also employs local labor. Pangkalan Kerinci has significantly developed since RGE was there. From this industrial visit, i learn that we should work with my best so we can give a good impact for community (people around us), good impact for community will make a good impact also for company, and if we have given my best to community and also for company, it will be good for country (3C).

A success entrepreneur like Mr. Tanoto of course not achieved easily. To become successful we need to persistence and hard work. A strong sailor was not born in the smooth wave. Entrepreneurs are required to have unyielding spirit. Second, a successful man who is able to make a difference. This is the essence of what is called innovation. And the third, successful people are those that have the spirit of learning. That's why our theme for this gathering is LEARN and LEAD. A successful people is always learning from failures and experiences not only from ours but also from others.

This day was the best day during the gathering.. Hhaha:D. because we had some amazing and meaningful game at outward bond. Totally my team played 10 out of 12 games in outward bond that day. Every games had goal and value for us. We learn to trust with our teammates, not to give up without fight, focus, teamwork, communicating and we learn to lead, lead yourself first and then lead others. We didn't win all the game (we lost 2 games), but we had no problem with that because all of us was happy, we had fun together, we learned together, and we had some "encok" together.. haha :D

On this gathering we also got training to escalate our hard skills. Today we had 3 session of training that were personal branding training, how to make an effective and attractive presentation by Becky Tumewu and the last we had blog writing training from kompasiana.. Yeayyy!!

One thing I emphasized from Mba Becky, she said that we usually nervous when we've presentation in front of higher class people like senior or boss or people in higher position than us. And it's really happened to me when i had final project defense. So the solution is we must change our mindset. When we meet new person either we know she/he is higher class than us or no, we must set in our mind that we start everything from zero, from 0-0. So we shouldn't felt like inferior or superior in front of our audience. Yeah finally all these problem leads us to one thing : mindset. Something like easy to say but hard to practice. Wish i can change my mindset in next presentation, not only for presentation but better mindset for all of my struggle life:)

Finally, we arrived in the end of this gathering. Our last night we had closing ceremony and firework and bonfire. That night i felt like these guys are really my close friend, whereas our first met wasn't no more 1 week ago. We came from different culture, different province and different background but we have one direction, we are leading to success, to our future beloved Indonesia. I don't know if we'll meet again in the next time or not, but i wanna thanks to all of you guys for this incredible and memorable moment and for all lesson you gave to me. If we meet again someday hopefully we've been reaching the dream that currently only stay in our minds right now. See you on top kece badai superteam:) Tanoto scholarss!! We Learn and Lead!!!
